Papers, 1908-1926.

Consists primarily of letters written to Miss Sorlie during World War I. William G. Fanning, who was with the U.S. Army in Texas, wrote over a three year period. He tells about army life at Galveston and San Antonio. There are also numerous letters from J. Magnus Gronningen, from Buxton, N.D., beginning when a student at Concordia College in Moorhead, Minn. and later as a soldier stationed in France. There are also some letters from family and several from her. Also includes some of her own school and teaching related documents.

Katherine Sorlie was born in 1900 at Buxton, N.D. After high school she attended the University of North Dakota in 1921 and later taught high school English. In 1927 she married E.B. McLeod. After living in several states they settled at Lisbon, N.D. where he was school superintendent and she a substitute teacher. She died in 1995. From the description of Papers, 1908-1926.
